Rumrunner terms of service — DRAFT
Each clause ends with the invariant or task that makes it true. A clause without one does not belong here. Invariants are numbered as in the product repo's CLAUDE.md; RR- tasks are in mikeypiro/rumrunner, OPS- tasks in this repo.
These terms are between you and Whatever, No Big Deal LLC ("we") for the use of Rumrunner.
1. What the service is
1.1 Rumrunner is a program on your Mac that routes each request from your tools to one of three lanes: a model on your Mac, a hosted open-weight model, or a frontier model — the latter two only with providers you configure and keys you supply. It keeps a ledger of what each request cost and what it would have cost at frontier prices. [CLAUDE.md, product repo]
1.2 The privacy policy is part of these terms. Where the two disagree, the privacy policy wins. [OPS-050]
2. What you pay for
2.1 The fee is one flat subscription, monthly or yearly, for the router and the receipt. That is the only thing we charge for. [OPS-021] [docs/01 "v0 is (1)"]
2.2 We take no share of what you pay your providers. Frontier requests are billed by the provider to you, at the provider's price, with no markup by us. We have no margin on any lane today; if a margin on the nearshore lane ever exists it will be disclosed before it applies, and there will never be one on frontier. [invariant 2] [OPS-040]
2.3 You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. [OPS-021 step 5]
2.4 Refunds are governed by the refund policy, including the case where the ledger shows you saved less than the fee. [OPS-026]
2.5 If your subscription lapses, the local lane keeps working. Routing to paid lanes pauses after the grace period. [RR-051] [docs/01 license token]
3. Your keys and your accounts
3.1 Keys you add are stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac and never sent to us. You are responsible for them and for the accounts they belong to. [invariant 3]
3.2 Your use of any provider is under that provider's terms and is billed by that provider. [invariant 1] [OPS-051]
4. What we do not promise
4.1 We do not promise that any third-party provider is available. When one is down the program routes around it where it can and tells you where it cannot. [OPS-050]
4.2 We do not promise that any model's answer is correct, on any lane. The router chooses where a request is answered; it does not vouch for the answer. [OPS-050]
4.3 The savings figure on the receipt is a measurement, not a guarantee. It is what the same tokens would have cost at a dated frontier price table, counted only for requests you did not mark as rejected. It describes what happened; it does not predict what will. [RR-031] [OPS-050]
4.4 Secret redaction before a request leaves your Mac is best effort. It catches known key shapes and high-entropy strings; it is not a substitute for a fence on folders that must never leave. [RR-034] [invariant 4]
5. Changes
5.1 Changes to the price, to these terms, to the privacy policy or to the published subprocessor list are dated on the published page and emailed to subscribers before they take effect. [OPS-050 §8]
5.2 A change that would route prompts through a server we operate requires your explicit opt-in and is treated as a new product, not a new version of these terms. [OPS-050 §8] [OPS-040]
6. Not yet decided here
6.1 Jurisdiction and governing law, the dispute clause, and liability caps are for counsel. [OPS-050, human-owned]
6.2 The price. [OPS-030]
